The Heldrich: Made with Nycon-G

The synthetic fibers of NyconG are made from 100 percent reclaimed nylon.

“The performance is quite similar to virgin products,” says Paul Bracegirdle, Executive VP of Nycon Corporation. “It’s equivalent to fibers made from their pure original form. We had it tested by an independent lab, and the results show compliance with the AC32 requirement for crack control.”

Back when Bracegirdle was trying to determine how to create a greener product, the federal government and nylon manufacturers were trying to come up with a way to increase their recycling efforts. “It was an obvious choice for us to research,” says Bracegirdle.

And just in case you needed an extra reason to go green, NyconG also contributes to obtaining project certification for the LEED program, as well as opportunities for tax credits to architects and owners.

Precast Panel produced with Nycon-G

Designed for both decorative or construction purposes, NyconG is a well-graded blend of nylon fibers (3/4 inch to micro-length). “It has no limitations,” Bracegirdle says.

NyconG was recently used in a large-scale project at The Heldrich Hotel and Conference Center in New Brunswick, New Jersey. Bracegirdle says the project was constructed with approximately 500 architectural precast concrete panels. “Those panels were produced with a very special precast concrete that included our NyconG green fiber,” he says.
