NyconRC fibers are engineered for high-performance, nonstructural flatwork and shotcrete applications. Nycon's total-quality fibers produce a tougher, more durable, low-maintenance concrete, and outperform all other fibers in prolonging the service life of concrete.

Description:

  • 100% virgin multifilament nylon bundle.
  • More than 34 million fibers per pound.
  • Highest fiber tensile strength available.
  • Design-engineered for optimum 3-dimensional distribution throughout matrix.
  • Hydrophilic (4% water absorption), chemically inert, non-corrosive, non-magnetic.
  • 0.75" (19mm) length.
  • Meets requirements of ASTM C1116, ICC ES AC32.

Dosage:
  • Typically, 1 pound/y3 (0.6kg/m3)
  • For UTW, 2-3 pounds/y3 (1.2-1.8kg/m3)

Value/Benefit in Concrete:
  • Provides three-dimensional reinforcement to reduce plastic shrinkage cracking and settlement.
  • As secondary reinforcement, NyconRC is more effective than welded-wire mesh in crack prevention.
  • Enhances bond with mortar due to water absorption properties.
  • Best critical fiber spacing to stop cracks at source.
  • Produces low-maintenance, longer-life-cycle concrete with reduced permeability, improved abrasion and impact resistance and fatigue strength.
  • Results in smooth, non-hairy surface, with less bleed water and finishing effort.

Concrete reinforced with NyconRC fibers vs. other synthetics has twice as much impact resistance and more than three times the resistance of unreinforced concrete.

Applications:
  • Interior/exterior, industrial/commercial slabs
  • Shotcrete
  • Elevated decks
  • Environmental containment
  • Ultra-thin whitetopping(UTW)
  • Decorative concrete

UV Resistance:
Nycon's ultraviolet resistance is far superior to polypropylene fibers, as documented in the ACI publication, Testing of Fiber-Reinforced Concrete, "Test Methods for Durability of Polymetric Fibers in Concrete and UV Light Resistance.
