Ultra-Thin Whitetopping (UTW) and Overlays:

A layer of concrete or mortar, seldom thinner than one inch (25mm), placed on and usually bonded onto the worn or cracked surface of fatigued hot-mixed asphalt or concrete pavement, to either restore or improve the function of the covered surface.

Bonded and unbonded concrete overlays on existing concrete slabs and pavements have all benefited from the use of Nycon synthetic fibers. Existing industrial floors with a Nycon synthetic fiber reinforced concrete topping meet both economic and technical tests. UTW is a new construction practice with a unique concrete composite. Instead of asphalt being placed on existing concrete, concrete is placed on existing asphalt. The secret ingredient is a dosage of three pounds per cubic yard of Nycon’s synthetic fibers. Typical applications are high-trafficked intersections and high load-bearing roadways.

The following Nycon fibers are suitable for UTW and overlays:

NyconRC:  Nycon's top-of-the-line, nylon fiber for excellent secondary reinforcement in concrete applications. Because of the exceptional bond between matrix and fiber, they yield the best results for concrete durability and have the highest UL fire-resistance rating of all synthetic fibers.

MultiMesh:  An economical nylon fiber solution for ready-mix concrete that provides excellent secondary reinforcing results for plastic-shrinkage crack control and increased impact resistance.

ProConF:  A polypropylene fibrillated fiber for ready-mix concrete, an effective first-choice fiber for secondary reinforcement.

ProConM:  A cost-effective polypropylene monofilament fiber for ready-mix concrete to manage plastic-shrinkage cracking.

NyconSF:  Either drawn-wire or slit-sheet steel, NyconSF fibers meet the requirements of ASTM A820 for use as secondary reinforcement and are an effective enhancement of flexural strength.

NyconB:  A combination of Nycon's steel and synthetic fibers wherein the synthetic fibers strengthen the bond between of the steel fibers in the mortar matrix to increase the effectiveness of the steel fibers.

AR Glass Fibers: Nycon AR (alkali-resistant) glass fibers enhance the lifespan and serviceability of concrete flatwork, precast products, architectural/decorative surfaces, and ornamental cementitious products.
