Q. What is the best approach to cutting joints in steel fiber reinforced concrete?
It is imperative to adhere to good concrete practices. This includes cutting joints within twelve hours after the concrete is placed. These joints are to be cut to a depth of 1/3 the thickness of the slab per ACI.

When a soft cut saw is used, care should be taken to insure raveling will not occur at the joint. This may require waiting a few additional minutes when the slab is reinforced with steel fibers. A test cut may be appropriate.
