FAQs

Why does Nycon recommend that our fibers be introduced at the concrete plant?
The logical answer is Nycon nylon fibers are considered a standard ingredient in a concrete mix and therefore should be treated like any admixture or additive. The ready mix producer is equipped to handle the introduction of the Nycon nylon fibers into the mixing system to insure the proper dosage is added and, most importantly, the optimum mixing time is achieved each and every time. Experience is important, as well as properly trained personnel. Most ready mix operations have standard written procedures as to how to add and mix the Nycon nylon fibers.

Technically, when the fibers are introduced at a single point the uniformity and quality of the product is enhanced. For example, when the ready mix producer introduces the fiber, the water-cement ratio can be held consistent. If the fibers are added at the job site, typically, the control of water introduced into the concrete is totally lost.
