Nycon AC (alkali-control) glass fibers enhance the lifespan and serviceability of all concrete including flatwork, precast products, architectural/decorative surfaces, and ornamental cementitious products.
Description
Nycon's AC glass fibers are specifically developed for concrete and mortar reinforcement and are highly resistant to alkalinity. Safe and easy to handle, they are more beneficial than e-glass fibers (electric glass, typically used for the reinforcement of thermoset and thermoplastic resins) which only provide early green strength and more cost effective per CY than AR glass.
The properties of AC-glass fibers result in a tougher concrete mix with a longer service life because of their:
- High modulus of elasticity
- High tensile strength
- Superior fiber-matrix bonding capabilities:
Mixing minerals with minerals results in total fiber incorporation in the mass without segregation.
- Similar density to concrete
- Non-combustibility (>350ĄC) and corrosion-resistance
- Workability at high dosages and superior performance at low dosages
With a filament diameter of 14 microns, AC-glass fibers pose no health hazards, since fibers with diameters greater than 3 microns cannot be inhaled. A further safety feature is that AC glass fibers always break with the same cross section without any reduction in diameter.
