MaxCell Foaming Agent for Flowable Fill
Fast, easy to use, cost-effective additive for Controlled Low-Strength Materials (CLSM)
Description
MaxCell's active ingredient is an extremely effective surfactant that quickly adds up to 30% air into the mortar matrix by "foaming the concrete" and expanding the volume of the mix at the time of pouring.
Value/Benefit
- By utilizing a unique delivery system, MaxCell yields the fastest and most efficient results of any additive on the market.
- MaxCell allows the mixture to reach a maximum strength much lower than standard concrete, which makes it excavatable for future trench access.
- MaxCell dramatically lowers the producer's cost per yard and increases the yards per truck to achieve up to 40% savings--vs. flowable fill produced without an air generator.

Applications
Flowable fill is defined as a low-strength blend of sand, water and cement (and occasionally fly ash). It is generally used in applications to replace compacted soils as an economical back fill solution in road and utility construction. Flowable fill can take the place of concrete, compacted soils, or sand used to fill around pipes or void areas. Other common applications include filling in bridge abutments, foundation sub-bases, or abandoned manholes and wells. The key benefits of flowable fill over conventional backfill are speed, cost, and reliability of compaction strength that eliminates settling.
Packaging
MaxCell is offered in convenient pre-measured truckload-dose pouches. The truck operator simply tears the pouch open and pours the contents into the mix. Pouches may be stored in conditions as low as 25¼ F, allowing trucks to be loaded the night before the pour and decreasing truck preparation time prior to departure.
Benefits of Pouch Packaging vs Other Dispensing Methods
MaxCell presents none of the problems associated with other types of packaging, which are:
- Wax capsules, which unexpectedly break in shipment or fail to break in the truck.
- Plastic jars that create waste at the jobsite and require constant refilling adding unnecessary time and mess.
- Powders, which are slow to react leading to insufficient mix time and quality problems once poured.
